NAVIGATING ETHICS IN THE AGE OF GENERATIVE AI

2:30pm - 3:35pm AEDT
Generative AI has the potential to reshape the legal industry through the introduction of new legal tools and ever-evolving unprecedented legal issues. Thanks to recent media articles, we have all heard cautionary tales about why lawyers should not be submitting legal briefs to courts that have been written solely by ChatGPT. However, as generative AI tools are starting to be increasingly used within law firms and in-house legal teams, it is important to understand both the legal and ethical issues presented by generative AI. This session will explore how lawyers can use generative AI in a way that complies with the Australian Solicitors’ Conduct Rules (with some real-life examples from overseas…).
