Session five: India & the Subcontinent

India has been a growing economic power over the last 20 years, largely due to favourable policy changes and a strengthening economy. This has resulted in India experiencing an increase in both inbound and outbound foreign investment. As a consequence there has also been an increase in commercial disputes between Indian and foreign companies, bilateral investment treaty claims against India, and India has proven to be a challenging jurisdiction for enforcement.

Join series chair Amanda Lees and guest panellists Nakul Dewan SA and Parnika Chaturvedi for this session in which we will discuss what you need to be aware of when entering a commercial relationship with an Indian party, how you can maximise your enforcement position in India, and how recent Indian Supreme Court judgments have improved certainty for award-holders against Indian parties.
